Where We Sail
Yachtpro Thailand 's base, which include our offices and air-conditioned
training rooms, are at the picturesque Yacht Haven Marina on the
northern coast of Phuket .
The sheltered waters in the vicinity of this world class marina afford excellent
water for novice training.
We are also just a stone's through from the wonders from Phang Nga Bay for
more advanced training.
The Yacht Haven Phuket combines safe anchorage for the international yachting
fraternity.
With easy access to the open sea, The Yacht Haven provides a gateway to famous
local sailing destinations in Phang Nga Bay , with its myriad limestone islands,
the stunning coastline of Krabi, the Phi Phi Islands , and the further distant
Similan and Surin Islands .
The marina accommodates over 150 boats from small sailing craft through to
mega yachts and all types of motor boats.
While we can, and are insured, to sail anywhere from Singapore in the south
to the border of Myanmar in the north, the waters in the vicinity of Phuket
are our primary sailing area. The beauty and contrasts within this relative
small area are breathtaking. Most of the most popular anchorages are about
a days sail from any of the others.
We have briefly summarized the regions within our primary area. More detailed
information can be found at the website we sponsor at http://www.sailing-asia.com/
Ao Phang Nga
The sheer sided sea
mountains that rise vertically out of Phang Nga Bay form some of
Thailand 's most spectacular scenery. While the bay itself is not
that large, the number of islands and inlets to be explored ensure
that no matter how long a yachtsman spends here, new experiences
will always be nearby.
Our Favourite Anchorages:
Koh Hong, Koh Yang, Koh Roi, Koh Kuda, Koh Hong (Krabi) & Koh
Chong Lat.
Krabi & Koh Dam Group
The stunning
beaches, sheltered bays and sea-mountain scenery of Krabi are world
famous. This are is another favorite cruising area and, as with most
places, facilities are developing.
Our Favorite Anchorages:
Ao Nang, Ao Muang, Rai Le, Ao Nam Mao & Koh Dam
Phi Phi Islands
Said to be one of the three most
beautiful islands [Mist] in the world, Phi Phi is a major tourist
destination. The combination of sheer cliffs and idyllic bays and
beaches make cruising in the group an absolute delight. Words of
warning, the more popular bays have a lot of tourist activity so
are best visited early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Our Favourite Anchorages:
Ton Sai Bay , South West Bay , Maya Bay (Day), Loh Sam (Day)
East Coast Area of Phuket
Although
the eastern coast of Phuket itself is generally unattractive, some
of the islands off it are quite attractive and provide both sheltered
anchorages and interesting stop-overs.
Our Favourite Anchorages:
Koh Rang, Koh Wa , Ao Chalong
Islands to the South
[ Phang Nga
Bay ] The islands close to Phuket are beautiful and afford good anchorages,
however they do get crowded with day-trippers. The islands further
out are more tranquil.
Our Favourite Anchorages:
Koh Mai Thon, Koh Racha Yai Bay
West Coast of Phuket
The west coast
of Phuket offers some of the clearest water and finest beaches of
the region. Consequently, the highest density of hotel and beachside
activity in the region is found here. All the anchorages listed below
are ideal in the northeast monsoon.
Our Favourite Anchorages:
Nai Harn Bay , Patong Bay , Ao BangTao
